Did you know what you are buying in the stores is not soap? It does not have the word soap printed on the package. The reason being - it is not soap. True soap is created from a reaction between a liquid, lye, and oil. Long ago, it was made from water, lye, and lard. Since that time it has progressed to other liquids and oils which have certain beneficial properties. I have chosen goat milk as my liquid which is known for its emollient properties, food grade lye, and 9 other oils. In addition, all of the soap has ground oatmeal which is soothing to the skin as well as yellow and zeolite clays. In addition, I add one more clay.
Since commercial bath products (which refer as soap) are actually detergents pretending to be soap, they leave your skin dry as well as steal the natural moisture from your skin. If you will compare the ingredients to your bath bar to the ingredients in your laundry detergent, you will be surprised at the similarity.
Many of our skin problems are actually caused by the very products we use trying to correct our skin problems. These products are filled with chemicals that rob our skin of its natural moisture. The result is just the purchase of more moisturizing products.
When we supply our skin with natural ingredients which work with our skin's daily process, we have fewer problems, less dryness, and skin improvement. And because of the lack of chemicals, it is non-allergenic (unless you just happen to be allergic to a particular oil), and great for sensitive skin. Since I have sensitive skin and allergies to almost everything, changing to true soap has stopped my itching. I personally use the soap from head to to (yes, I wash my hair with it - NO MORE ITCHY SCALP!!!!).
These principles also apply to the chemically produced shaving creams we use. Natural shaving soap provides an extremely close shave leaving the skin smooth without razor burn or bumps. The brush lifts the hair so the razor can glide across the skin. It also reduces the cuts that come with shaving. Shaving soap lasts a lot longer than cans of shaving cream making it much more economical. Also, ladies, shaving soap is not just for men's faces - it is also for our legs and arms!!
My home made soap is made from specialty oils which are known for their skin care properties. They include properties such as cell regeneration, skin conditioning / restructuring, skin moisturizing, humectants (protects skin from moisture loss), and even contain natural Vitamin E. I use fresh goat milk (take a look at some of my children on the photo page) which a natural emollient, ground oatmeal, honey, and 3 clays to give you the best product possible for natural skin improvement.
After one use, you will feel a major difference in the way your skin feels. You will be amazed at how soft and smooth your skin will feel. This softness also reduces the amount of lotions you will use. Give it a try and feel / see the difference!
There is just one CAUTION - these soap have extreme lathering and may become habit forming! ENJOY!!!
